OUR PLEA TO THOSE WHO SPEED
If you speed, take last minute risks, we ask, on behalf of your family DONT
If you are speeding think long & hard when passing others & if you think “I might just make it” or “Can I make it,”
Is it worth the risk of sudden death for you or even your passengers, possibly your best friends.
Death happens to those who least expect it !!
Think of your family, possibly your wife & family, your Mum & Dad,your brothers, sisters, all your relations.
The devastation they will feel through your loss will be to hard to even start to explain, hard to understand, so many people will miss you in many ways.
If you think about how you would miss them, maybe that might bring it into prospective.
All the plans you have made for your future life gone, you don't exist any more , except in some folks memories, that will gradually fade.
Its easy at times to be placed in a situation, through speed, that you have never found yourself in before, especially if you are a newer driver.
Even an experienced driver can find themselves out of control at times,so, what do you do when you find yourself in that situation.
Exactly,what do you do!
There is nothing in the highway code to prepare you for this, its happening now, ITS to late to ask advice from anyone, its nothing you have encountered before, what do you do, brake, swerve.
This happens in milli seconds , your mind is trying to understand what is happening, there is no time to think, only time to react & you don't have that experience in this situation.
The end result, your untimely death & possibly the deaths of others. Deaths you dont have a right to cause!
Think long & hard, for your sake, your families sake & the sake of others you might take with you as you leave this world ,long before you expected to.
If you are going to pass a school bus, stop or reduce your speed to a crawl, until the kids are across, never mind those behind you who flash lights or blow their horn.
If it was their child getting of the bus, they would be glad you stopped, its just a pity many don't think that way, yet most themselves are parents & grand parents, so its OK to speed past a school bus, as long as its not the one their kids are on!!
Remember, what gives you the right to end some one else's life, through your carelessness, whether passing a school bus, or in fact any other vehicle.
Taking that one chance that maybe does not work out, & through that one chance you take wipe out another families hope & aspirations for their children .
Dont forget the emergency services, they have to pull out the person that used to you, & possibly your friends or some innocent family involved.
What a thought, & of course it affects them, especially if children or youngsters are involved, most will have families of their own.
The worst bit, knocking on your front door, asking to speak to your, wife, mum or dad, imagine their thoughts as the police try to explain your death to them.
Something they really cant take in, then the tears of realisation & utter anguish, the total devastation they start to feel, never to see you again.
Do you really want to put your parents & family through this total heartbreak that lasts for ever.
Just think about the consequences of your actions, that just dont affect you.
PLEASE DONT SPEED
IN CASE YOU NEED REMINDED
HIGH WAY CODE RULE 209
Drive carefully and slowly when passing a stationary bus showing a ‘School Bus’ sign (see 'Vehicle markings') as children may be getting on or off.

THIS IS A QUOTE FROM ROAD SAFETY SCOTLAND – SPEEDING
Speed is a factor in almost all accidents, even if not the primary cause, it can be a contributory factor and it certainly plays a major part in the resultant casualty severity.
Tackling the use of excessive and inappropriate speed is a priority for Scottish Police Forces and for Road Safety Scotland.
It has been shown that even slight reductions in average speeds can have a significant reduction in casualty numbers.
Road Safety Scotland works closely with the police in anti-speeding campaigns and supports the four focus days which have become a feature of the ACPOS annual programme of events.
Again, this is an issue which the police are addressing all year round, but the focus days are used to highlight the problems caused by speeding and raise awareness to the devastating effects it can have on victims and their families.
