they could however me made safer if every local
authority adopted the same safety measures.
That way you will see just how common they are, & in some circumstances were ONLY MINUTES away from picking up or dropping of pupils.

BUS CRASH IN BIGGAR
Once again we have a terrible situation, a bus full of children , although  seat belts were  fitted  in this instance, it is uncommon on most school buses.
Of course service buses that carry pupils dont have seat belts at all  & under current legislation never will.
There were Teachers on the bus yet no one it appears insisted the belts were fitted [ were the teachers wearing theirs ?] the result children & possibly staff severely injured.
A  young girl has been tragically killed in this accident .
A young life sadly lost & for no reason except the lack of a seatbelt fitted.
This is shocking & so sad for the familes involved, this should not happen in the year 2010!
Our thoughts are with all the families at this time, an extremely worrying time say the least.
To lose a child is so close to our hearts, its painful in the extreme for all involved.
Once again it proves the fact all buses should in fact have seat belts, but even more so for children, especially on the school run.
Why is  it in some areas children are safer than others, why on earth should this be, many local authorities need to address this situation now.
The fact this was not a normal school run means nothing, its is still children involved, our most precious gift, when will parents realise their kids deserve better safety measures & complain when they are unhappy.
Our petition is still before the Scottish Parliament regarding this & other safety measure.
The other big question is , why on earth was a bus transporting children in this weather, after all the dire warnings of the snow & winds that were to come.
The bus operator has many questions to answer regarding this matter,as do the local authority, surely common sense would have to prevail, the problem being, it rarely does!
Sadly on transport H&S  laws do not apply to children.
We pray for these families & all those injured, it saddens us & also brings back memories we try daily to forget. How do parents begin to even cope with the loss of a child !
